Made in Japan, Imari vase with floral, fretwork, and peacock decorated panels in a palette of blue, iron red, and gold. This outstandiing piece stands approx. 18 cm high and has a small pedestal foot accented with a ring of gold. The top of the vase squeezes in at the shoulder and then the rim flares outward and is decorated in a geometric pattern. Condition is very good to excellent with no chips, cracks, or other major flaws
Signature :
The two right hand characters read Gizan (probably the artists signature), the third character reads Satsu or Sassuru but not as the first character used on Satsuma earthenware. Kyoto Satsuma, Mid 20th century, after 1940. Vase w Peacock & Floral Panels, Japan
